KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Kuwait, Christian Dooms, on Monday praised the “exceptional relations” between Belgium and Kuwait across political and economic sectors.
Delivering a speech at a celebration hosted by the Belgian Embassy on the occasion of Belgium’s National Day, Ambassador Dooms highlighted the strong and distinguished ties between the two countries.
The event was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Ambassador Sadiq Marafi, along with heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations, and business leaders.
Ambassador Dooms said the two nations enjoy particularly robust economic and trade relations, with bilateral trade totaling approximately €925 million. He noted the wide presence of Belgian products in the Kuwaiti market, ranging from technological goods to food products.
The ambassador also emphasized Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), the international marketing arm of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), and its operations in Belgium, including fuel stations and investments in energy-related sectors.
Recalling Belgium’s participation in the international coalition that liberated Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion, Ambassador Dooms commended Kuwait for its steadfast support of peace and dialogue, as well as its extensive humanitarian aid worldwide.
