KUWAIT CITY, March 5: The spirited clash between Al-Jahra and Khaitan is set to kick off at 6:15 pm today at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium, marking the opening matches of the eighteenth round in the Zain Premier League. The action will continue tomorrow, featuring Al-Fahaheel against Al-Salmiya and Al-Qadisiyah against Al-Shabab. The round will conclude the day after tomorrow with two exciting matches: Kuwait facing Al-Nasr in the first, and Al-Arabi battling it out with Kazma in the second.

Post this round, the ten clubs will be divided into two groups. The top six will enter the “Championship” League, vying for the prestigious title. At the same time, the remaining four will engage in a survival battle, aiming to avoid relegation to the First Division. Two clubs will face relegation, while the other two will secure their place in the Premier League for the upcoming season.

Kuwait Club, Al-Arabi, Al-Qadisiya, Al-Salmiya, and Al-Nasr have already secured their spots in the “League of Six,” leaving Kazma and Al-Fahaheel to compete for the last ticket. This ticket determines whether a team will contend for the title or battle to avoid relegation.

In today’s match, Al-Jahra, currently at the bottom of the standings with 5 points, seeks a victory to keep its survival hopes alive. The team is aiming for its second triumph in the competition after a convincing win over Al-Shabab in the sixteenth round, coupled with two draws against Al-Fahaheel and Khaitan.

The “Sons of the Red Palace” fully know that anything less than a victory significantly reduces their chances of remaining in the Premier League, potentially pushing them towards relegation. On the flip side, Khaitan, standing ninth with 12 points, aims to maintain positive results and intensify the pressure on eighth-placed Al-Shabab, with victory offering a chance to distance themselves from the bottom and secure a spot among the Premier League clubs.
