BAS organizes 2nd Awards Evening at BSK – Swimming gala to take place on June 4

KUWAIT CITY, June 1: The British Academy of Sport (BAS) has organized its second Awards Evening at The British School of Kuwait (BSK) where more than 200 parents and students participated.

BAS has a proud tradition of sporting excellence and achievement across a wide range of activities and on this special event, the head coaches selected the best 70 students from almost 1900 who registered to 10 Sport Activities: Badminton, Basketball, Football, Roller Skating, Gymnastics, Kick Boxing, Swimming, Tennis, Karate and Zumba.

During the evening, the students, filled with excitement and eagerness, had their awards presented by special guests such as Madame Vera Al Mutawa MBE, Kefah Al Mutawa, HE Romanian Ambassador Vasile Sofineti, Mrs Angela Loan Deputy Head of Mission and Consul from Australian Embassy, Mrs Joanne Wild TSK Principal and the Senior Managers of sponsors: Sports Direct and High Sierra along with BAS Director Lucian Anisia.

This year, BAS had key achievements including two International Sports trips: one was in October to Barcelona in Spain with 20 students and the second trip was in April to Romania in Transylvania with 19 students.

Other programmes BAS offers are Summer Camps where more than 300 students enjoy the Swimming and the Sports & Arts Camp. Similarly this year, BAS will run two camps for 3 weeks: one for swimming which will start on June 12 and another would be the Ramadan Camp on June 19.

For the first time, BAS will host The Swimming GALA which will take place on Saturday June 4 where the advanced students will have swimming competitions and will also receive their trophies and medals.

For the next Academic Year 2016/2017 BAS has big plans with more tournaments including Basketball for children and for ladies, new activities including Table Tennis and Netball, International trips: a Sports trip to Greece in October and another trip to Italy in April.
