BAPCO Energies Operations Impacted by Regional Conflict, Declares Force Majeure

MANAMA, Mar 9: Bapco Energies BSC, Bahrain’s integrated energy company, has declared a state of Force Majeure across its group operations following disruptions caused by the ongoing regional conflict in the Middle East and a recent attack on its refinery complex.

The company emphasized that domestic supply remains unaffected, noting that “all local market needs are fully secured” through proactive contingency plans that ensure operational continuity and uninterrupted local demand coverage.

Bapco Energies reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders and said it would continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

Earlier, an Iranian attack today on Bahrain sparked a fire apparently at the island kingdom’s sole oil refinery, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air. Online video purportedly shows the fire at the Sitra refinery.

The state-run Bahrain News Agency later published a report saying “a fire broke out due to the Iranian aggression targeting a facility in Maameer, with material damage but no loss of life.”

Maameer is a Bahraini village adjacent to the refinery.

Bahrain’s government did not immediately identify the refinery itself as being hit, though it has been a target of repeated Iranian attacks since the war began.
