Bangladeshi Expat Kills Gulf National After Dispute, Sets Fire to Body in Al-Salmi

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: What initially appeared to be a deadly fire at a livestock pen in Kuwait’s Al-Salmi area has been uncovered as a premeditated murder, with criminal investigators arresting a Bangladeshi national suspected of killing a Gulf national and then setting fire to the site in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The case came to light after the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation’s Al-Jahra Governorate Investigation Department, received a report through the operations room about a fire inside a livestock pen and the discovery of a deceased person.

When security personnel arrived at the scene and began examining the burned area, they discovered the charred body of a Gulf national. However, investigators soon noticed details that did not fit a straightforward fire-related death.

Traces of blood were found inside the victim’s vehicle, prompting investigators to suspect that the death had occurred before the fire. The discovery shifted the focus of the investigation from a possible accidental blaze to a suspected homicide.

Investigators began an extensive search of the area, collecting evidence and tracing the victim’s movements and belongings. Clothing and personal items belonging to the victim were recovered, while investigators also found indications that someone had attempted to conceal or destroy evidence connected to the incident.

As investigators pieced together the evidence and followed leads, their attention turned toward the livestock pen’s guard.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and confronted with the findings gathered during the investigation. According to the Ministry of Interior, the suspect confessed to committing the crime following a dispute with the victim.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly told investigators that he assaulted the victim with a wooden stick. He then moved the injured man to the fodder area inside the livestock pen before setting fire to the location with the alleged intention of killing him and concealing the crime.

Investigators also determined that the suspect had attempted to erase traces of the crime. He allegedly tried to remove bloodstains and dispose of some of the victim’s belongings in an effort to prevent investigators from establishing what had happened.

The investigation ultimately transformed what appeared to be a fire incident into a murder case, with the evidence gathered at the scene helping investigators reconstruct the events leading up to the victim’s death.

The suspect was taken into custody and the necessary legal procedures were completed before he was referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that Kuwait’s security agencies will continue to investigate criminal cases, uncover the circumstances surrounding deaths and apprehend those responsible. It also reaffirmed that anyone who attempts to threaten public safety or tamper with the security of society will be pursued and brought before the law.
