KUWAIT CITY, Jun 5: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of a Bangladeshi national accused of possessing and trafficking narcotic and psychotropic substances following a security operation carried out by the Criminal Security Sector.
The arrest was made by the General Department of Criminal Investigation's Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate Investigation Department as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and protect the community from the dangers posed by narcotics.
According to the ministry, the case began after authorities received intelligence information about the suspect's alleged involvement in drug-related activities. Investigators conducted extensive surveillance and gathered evidence that led to the identification of several locations allegedly used to store and conceal illegal substances.
After securing the necessary legal authorization, security personnel raided the suspect's residence and carried out a thorough search, uncovering a substantial quantity of narcotics and psychotropic drugs prepared for distribution.
The seized items included:
- 182 small sachets of heroin weighing approximately 66 grams
- 265 psychotropic tablets packaged in sachets and ready for distribution
- 68 sachets of hashish weighing around 144 grams
- Approximately 160 grams of cannabis ("Ganja")
- 1,750 psychotropic pills
- Various tools and equipment allegedly used for storing, packaging and preparing narcotics for sale
The ministry said the suspect admitted during questioning that the seized drugs were intended for both trafficking and personal consumption.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused, who has been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across the country, emphasizing that security agencies remain vigilant in tracking down drug dealers and traffickers. Officials stressed that anyone attempting to undermine public safety or target young people with narcotics will face strict legal consequences.
Authorities described the operation as part of Kuwait's broader campaign to curb drug trafficking networks and prevent the spread of narcotics within society.
