Bangladesh Youth Festival Victory Day Cup concludes in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: The Bangladesh Youth Festival and Victory Day Cup 2025, featuring expatriate Bangladeshi cricket teams in Kuwait, concluded successfully on January 18 at the Kuwait Cricket Ground in Sulaibiya. The tournament was organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Association, Kuwait, under the patronage of the Bangladesh Embassy, with the Bangladesh Press Club, Kuwait, serving as the media partner.

A total of 10 expatriate Bangladeshi teams competed in the tournament. In the thrilling final, IIIY Sporting Club faced Jilib Expatriate Club. After winning the toss, IIIY Sporting Club elected to bat first. In an exciting contest, IIIY Sporting Club defeated Jilib Expatriate Club by 32 runs, claiming the championship.

Nahid of IIIY Sporting Club impressed with the ball, taking 3 crucial wickets, and was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ for his outstanding performance.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted under the supervision of Tournament Convener Mir Mosharraf Hossain Mostafa and the Acting President of the Bangladesh Cricket Association, Kuwait, Sarwardi Sarwar. The event’s Chief Guest was Major General Syed Tarek Hossain, OSP, AUC, PSC, Honorable Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, while Defence Attaché Brigadier General Rakibul Karim Chowdhury attended as a special guest.

Other dignitaries present included Counselor Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Counselor (Labor) SM Saifur Rahman, First Secretary (Passport & Visa) Mohammad Atiqul Mamun, President of Bangladesh Business Council Kuwait Lutfur Rahman Mukha Ali, along with Mohammad Main Uddin, Aziz Rahman Aziz, Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman Shams, Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, Golden Selim Khan, and other professionals.

The tournament drew journalists, community leaders, sports enthusiasts, and a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere throughout the event.
