KUWAIT CITY, May 22: In a significant gesture of humanitarian support and enduring friendship, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh will dispatch the first consignment of essential food items to the State of Kuwait on 25 May 2026, as a gift for the people of Kuwait. The initiative is intended to support Kuwait’s strategic reserves of essential commodities amid the prevailing situation in the West Asian region.
The inaugural shipment is scheduled to arrive in Kuwait on 25 May 2026, marking the commencement of a multi-flight operation to deliver a total of 240 tonnes of key food items in the coming days. The initiative reflects Bangladesh’s steadfast solidarity with Kuwait and reaffirms the strong bilateral partnership, mutual trust, and spirit of cooperation between the two friendly nations amid regional uncertainty.
A high-level three-member delegation from Bangladesh, led by the Hon’ble Foreign Adviser and Special Envoy of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Humaiun Kobir, will arrive in Kuwait on 24 May 2026 to officially hand over the consignment. The delegation will also include the Hon’ble State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, His Excellency Mr. Rashiduzzaman Millat, and the Director General (West Asia) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
During the visit, the Special Envoy will deliver a letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh addressed to His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, as well as officially hand over the goodwill consignment of essential food supplies to His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait. The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, Major General Syed Tareq Hussain, OSP, awc, psc, will join the delegation for all official engagements, including the symbolic handover ceremony of the food consignments.
The dispatch of these food supplies, aimed at strengthening Kuwait’s strategic reserves, symbolizes the deep-rooted fraternal relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait. It further demonstrates Bangladesh’s proactive commitment to humanitarian cooperation and support for friendly nations affected by regional challenges and volatility.
Additional flights carrying further consignments of essential commodities are expected to continue in the days following 25 May 2026 as part of a coordinated effort to ensure the timely delivery of supplies.
