Bahrain Sentences 12 to 10 Years Over Alleged Support for Iranian Attacks

MANAMA, Jun 15: Bahrain’s High Criminal Court has sentenced 12 individuals to 10 years in prison in separate cases involving alleged support for Iranian attacks on the Gulf state, according to the Public Prosecution and state media.

The court said the defendants were convicted of “supporting, encouraging, and endorsing the heinous Iranian terrorist attacks” on Bahrain, as well as offences including obtaining and sharing restricted security-related information, photographing prohibited locations, and spreading false news and rumours via social media during what authorities described as Iranian aggression.

The prosecution said investigations were launched after the suspects were identified by security services. Authorities reported that prosecutors questioned the accused, heard witness testimony, and examined electronic devices, with forensic analysis allegedly confirming the charges.

The case comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent military escalation in the region.

Earlier this year, the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran, which reportedly resulted in thousands of casualties, according to regional reports. Iran later launched retaliatory strikes targeting Gulf countries, including Bahrain, as well as Israel, while also disrupting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a related development on Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement with Iran had been finalized, aimed at halting hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and ending a U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports.

Regional governments have not independently confirmed all details of the reported agreement, while diplomatic discussions are expected to continue amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf and broader Middle East.
