MANAMA, Jun 28: Bahrain said on Sunday that it successfully intercepted and destroyed several Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting its territory.
In a statement posted on X, the Bahraini military accused Iran of carrying out a “systematic hostile campaign” through missile and drone attacks targeting civilians and private property, calling such actions a violation of international humanitarian law.
The Bahrain Defense Force said all branches and units remain at the highest level of readiness to defend the kingdom, while authorities warned the public not to approach any suspicious or unfamiliar objects that may be remnants of the attacks.
The Interior Ministry earlier said warning sirens were activated across the country amid possible attacks. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had claimed it launched missile and drone strikes on U.S. military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to recent U.S. strikes on Iranian targets.
The escalation follows U.S. military strikes on Iranian sites after Washington accused Tehran of attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
