MANAMA, Jul 9: Bahrain's air defense systems intercepted and destroyed multiple Iranian missiles and drones targeting the kingdom on Thursday morning, as the Bahrain Defence Force accused Tehran of continuing a "systematic hostile approach" against civilians.
In a statement, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said the attacks were successfully thwarted with "unwavering resolve and high combat readiness," adding that all military units remain at the highest levels of readiness and on full alert to safeguard the kingdom.
The military accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilians and private property, describing the missile and drone strikes as "a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."
Authorities urged citizens and residents not to approach or touch any suspicious objects that may be remnants of the intercepted missiles or drones and to report them immediately. The Royal Field Engineering Unit has been placed on standby to safely dispose of any unexploded debris.
The Bahrain Defence Force also praised the combat readiness and vigilance of its personnel, saying its forces remain fully prepared to defend the kingdom against any further threats.
