MANAMA, June 10: Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa on Wednesday reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, to supporting Gulf cooperation efforts aimed at advancing integration and coordination among GCC member states in line with the aspirations of their leaders. The remarks came during his reception of heads of delegations participating in the 167th Ministerial Council meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the third joint ministerial meeting of the GCC-Canada Strategic Dialogue. The Crown Prince expressed pride in the GCC’s achievements and the foundations laid by previous generations for joint Gulf action, stressing the importance of building on existing accomplishments and strengthening the close ties and cooperation among member states as a source of strength for the bloc.
Delegation heads conveyed greetings from GCC leaders to the Bahraini King and Crown Prince, while Prince Salman extended the King’s greetings and his own to GCC leaders, expressing hope that the meetings would achieve their objectives and further enhance cooperation in pursuit of shared goals. He underscored Bahrain’s support for initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, prosperity and sustainable development, while investing in future opportunities across various sectors.
The Crown Prince also condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on GCC countries, reaffirming Bahrain’s support for efforts to prevent escalation, protect civilians and vital facilities, and strengthen regional and international peace and security. He further highlighted the longstanding friendship between GCC countries and Canada, noting the steady progress in bilateral cooperation and stressing the importance of expanding joint efforts and creating new opportunities to advance relations to higher levels of development and prosperity.
