MANAMA, June 30: Bahraini courts have sentenced seven people to prison terms of up to 10 years after convicting them of supporting Iranian attacks on the Kingdom, spreading false information, and filming sensitive locations.

According to judicial authorities, the convictions stem from cases involving support for Iran's attacks, dissemination of false news, and the recording of restricted sites, as Bahrain continues its crackdown on activities deemed to threaten national security.

In a separate case, the High Criminal Court sentenced another defendant to five years in prison for committing acts of violence and vandalism during the Iranian attacks on Bahrain in March. The court also ordered the confiscation of seized items.

The Public Prosecution said a full investigation was conducted, during which the defendant was questioned and granted all legal rights. Prosecutors ordered the suspect's pretrial detention, gathered witness testimony, and referred the case to the High Criminal Court, which issued its verdict after several hearings.

The Public Prosecution reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm legal action against anyone whose actions undermine public security or threaten the country's stability.

Earlier this month, Bahraini courts sentenced 12 people to 10 years in prison in separate Iran-linked cases. The charges included supporting and promoting Iranian attacks, obtaining and sharing prohibited information, photographing restricted sites, and spreading false news and rumors on social media during the attacks.

Bahrain has accused Iran of continuing missile and drone attacks targeting civilians despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington earlier this month. On June 28, the Bahrain Defence Force said Iran had maintained what it described as a systematic campaign of hostile attacks using missiles and drones.
