MANAMA, Sep 15: A Bahraini court has sentenced a person to five years in prison for social media posts supporting and praising what authorities described as Iranian terrorist attacks against Bahrain, the Public Prosecution said Tuesday.
The court also imposed a fine of 2,000 Bahraini dinars and ordered the confiscation of seized items. Authorities did not disclose the identity of the defendant.
According to the Public Prosecution, the case began after cybercrime investigators detected a social media account containing images, videos and comments endorsing the attacks.
An examination of electronic devices seized during the investigation provided evidence supporting the charges, the statement said.
