MANAMA, Apr 4: The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said its air defence systems have been actively intercepting what it described as successive hostile attacks, including ballistic missiles and drones targeting the Kingdom.
According to the statement, since the beginning of the hostilities, Bahrain’s air defences have intercepted and destroyed 188 ballistic missiles and 453 drones, all reportedly aimed at the country. The military said the sustained interceptions reflect the “high readiness and vigilance” of its personnel and the continued operational effectiveness of its defence systems.
The statement added that the armed forces remain on high alert and expressed confidence that Bahrain’s airspace remains secure despite repeated attempts to penetrate its defences. The command also praised the professionalism and readiness of its personnel involved in air defence operations.
Authorities urged citizens and residents to follow strict safety precautions, including avoiding affected areas, not approaching suspicious debris, and refraining from filming or sharing images of military operations. The public was also advised to rely only on official government channels for verified updates and warnings.
The General Command further stated that the use of missiles and drones against civilian areas constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter, calling such attacks a direct threat to regional stability and security.
