MANAMA, Jun 6: Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned what it described as renewed Iranian missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait, following the interception of seven ballistic missiles launched toward the two countries early Saturday.
In an official statement, the ministry called the attacks a “flagrant violation” of the sovereignty of both nations, as well as a breach of the UN Charter and international norms, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to security and stability in the Gulf region.
Bahrain also said the strikes violated UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which it said condemns Iran’s “unjustified attacks” and any attempts to obstruct maritime navigation or close the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry stressed that “security is not built with missiles and drones, and stability is not preserved by laying mines,” urging Iran to immediately halt hostilities and pursue de-escalation.
It further called for the full and unrestricted opening of the Strait of Hormuz, disclosure of naval mine locations, and cooperation in their removal. Bahrain also appealed for the establishment of a safe humanitarian maritime corridor to allow civilian vessels to pass and enable more than 20,000 stranded sailors to return home.
Reaffirming its stance, Bahrain said it remains committed to regional peace and stability, but warned that continued aggression should not be mistaken for weakness, emphasizing that the defense of its sovereignty, security, and people remains a “red line.”
