MANAMA, Mar 30: Bahrain's Ministry of Interior arrested three individuals accused of forming a terrorist cell affiliated with the Lebanese Hezbollah group, in a case linked to threats against regional security.
According to the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, the suspects coordinated with terrorist elements abroad and allegedly sought to engage in espionage activities aimed at undermining state sovereignty, spreading fear, and endangering public safety.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had traveled to Lebanon, where they reportedly received weapons training after meeting members of Hezbollah. Authorities said they also collected funds under the guise of charitable work and transferred them to support the group’s activities, while sharing sensitive information related to regional developments.
The ministry added that the accused were preparing to carry out assignments directed by the group’s leadership, including potential terrorist operations in Bahrain. Legal procedures have been completed, and the suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
