MANAMA, Mar 1: An attack drone struck Bahrain International Airport early Sunday, causing limited material damage but no fatalities, the Interior Ministry said. The incident marks at least the fourth strike on a commercial airport in the region since military operations against Iran were launched by Israel and the United States on Saturday.

A senior official at Civil Aviation Affairs said rapid response protocols were activated immediately after the airport was targeted. Emergency plans had been put in place in advance, including the precautionary evacuation of the passenger terminal to ensure the safety of travelers and staff.

Emergency teams, Bahrain Airport Company and airport security personnel carried out coordinated response measures, isolating affected areas, enhancing inspection and surveillance procedures, and verifying the safety of critical facilities, navigation systems and operational infrastructure.

Field teams elevated readiness levels and worked in coordination with joint operations rooms to maintain continuity of airport operations in line with the highest safety standards. Authorities said coordination between security and technical bodies remains ongoing to safeguard the airport and ensure passenger and staff safety.

Separately, Government Hospitals said Salmaniya Medical Complex received four people injured in what it described as a hostile Iranian attack targeting Bahrain. Three sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged, while a fourth patient with moderate injuries remains under medical observation until his condition stabilizes.

Government Hospitals added that its emergency response plan was activated, with readiness raised across key departments, including emergency and intensive care units, to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
