Bahrain Airport Flights Gradually Resume as Gulf Air Adjusts Regional Network

MANAMA, Apr 9:  Flight operations are gradually returning at Bahrain International Airport following recent regional airspace restrictions that disrupted schedules and caused widespread delays across multiple destinations.

Bahrain Airport Company confirmed that limited services have resumed after the reopening of Bahrain’s airspace, following clearance from the Civil Aviation Affairs under the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. The restoration of services is being carried out in stages to ensure operational stability after the disruption.

Authorities said airlines are expected to restore flight frequencies gradually, with priority likely being given to high-demand routes and key connecting services. However, passengers have been advised to remain vigilant and check directly with airlines for updated schedules, as further adjustments may occur in the coming days.

The partial resumption comes after several days of disruption linked to broader regional airspace constraints, which affected flight movements across the Gulf and surrounding air corridors.

Meanwhile, Gulf Air has announced a temporary adjustment to its Dammam-based network for April 2026, impacting a wide range of international routes across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Under the revised operational plan, flights from Dammam to London Heathrow will operate until 11 April, while services to Paris Charles de Gaulle will continue until 12 April. Operations to Dhaka are scheduled until 26 April, followed by Islamabad until 28 April, with Athens and Kochi continuing until 29 April. Services to Mumbai are expected to run until 30 April.

The updated network also includes key destinations such as Istanbul, Cairo, Manila, Bangkok, Casablanca, Frankfurt, Lahore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, and Nairobi, which form part of the airline’s temporary restructuring plan.

Gulf Air said the changes are part of ongoing network adjustments and advised passengers to regularly check updated schedules before travelling. The airline did not provide further operational details behind the temporary restructuring.

The combined developments highlight a gradual easing of regional aviation disruptions, even as carriers continue to adjust operations in response to evolving airspace conditions.
