MANAMA, July 8: Bahrain's Defence Force said Iran continued what it described as a "systematic hostile approach" by launching fresh missile and drone attacks targeting civilians in the kingdom, adding that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed several incoming aerial threats.
In a statement on Wednesday, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said its air defense units responded "with unwavering resolve and high combat readiness," intercepting what it called "treacherous Iranian aerial attacks" before they reached their targets.
The military said all weapons systems and units remain at the highest levels of readiness and are on full alert to defend the Kingdom of Bahrain against any further threats.
Authorities urged citizens and residents to remain cautious and avoid approaching or touching any suspicious objects or debris that may have fallen from intercepted missiles or drones. The public was instructed to immediately report such objects to the relevant authorities.
The Defence Force said personnel from the Royal Field Engineering Unit are fully prepared to safely identify and dispose of any remnants of the attacks to ensure public safety.
The General Command condemned the alleged use of missiles and drones against civilians and private property, describing it as a "flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."
The statement concluded by praising the combat readiness and vigilance of Bahrain's armed forces, saying the Defence Force takes pride in the dedication of its personnel in carrying out their duty to protect the kingdom and defend its sovereignty.
