Bahrain Air Defenses Intercept Iranian Missiles, Drones Targeting Kingdom

MANAMA, Jul 24: Bahrain said on Friday that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial attacks targeting the kingdom, accusing Tehran of continuing what it described as a systematic campaign against civilians.

In a statement, the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) said its air defense units successfully intercepted and destroyed "a number" of Iranian aerial threats, adding that all military formations remain at the highest level of operational readiness to defend the country.

The military urged residents to avoid approaching any suspicious objects or debris that may have resulted from the reported attacks and to immediately notify the relevant authorities.

The BDF said personnel from the Royal Field Engineering Unit were on standby to safely dispose of any unexploded remnants.

Bahrain also accused Iran of using missiles and drones to target civilians and private property, describing the attacks as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

There was no immediate response from Iranian authorities to Bahrain's allegations.

The latest development comes amid escalating military tensions between Iran and the United States and a series of retaliatory attacks across the Gulf region.
