Backing Terrorist Organizations Poses a Grave Threat to Kuwait Society

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The State Security Court has affirmed that supporting any organization designated as terrorist constitutes a serious threat to the security and stability of society.

In its rulings, the court said such conduct represents a blatant violation of the law, reflects disregard for national values and principles, and promotes a harmful discourse that endangers social peace and public security.

The court made the remarks while convicting several defendants of spreading false news. It stated that their actions exceeded the limits of legally protected freedom of expression, adding that the conduct had developed into a more dangerous approach that conflicted with loyalty to the country, undermined national interests, and risked creating social instability.

In a separate ruling convicting one defendant of insulting the Amir, the court stressed that attacking the foundations of the state and undermining the status of the Amir is unacceptable. It described the act as a serious and unprecedented transgression.

The court also convicted a defendant who had previously been found guilty in the so-called “Abdali Cell” case and later received an Amiri pardon. In its ruling, the court said it saw no grounds for leniency, noting that the defendant had failed to make use of the opportunity granted by the pardon.

The court stated that although the defendant had benefited from an Amiri pardon following his earlier conviction, his subsequent actions showed that he had not taken advantage of that opportunity.
