CALIFORNIA, Jun 15: California, June 15, 2026 – A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed shortly after takeoff at Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday morning, according to the base.
The base, located in the Mojave Desert north of Los Angeles, said on social media that the aircraft went down at around 11:20 a.m. local time after departing the Edwards airfield.
“A United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff on the Edwards airfield at 11:20 a.m.,” the base said in a Facebook post, adding that emergency crews immediately responded and operations were ongoing at the scene.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether there were any injuries or fatalities. Investigations into the cause of the crash are expected to begin once the site is secured.
