KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi highlighted the importance of Ayurveda as an integral part of India’s traditional knowledge and health heritage, noting the growing global recognition of the ancient system and its holistic approach to health, wellness and prevention.
Tripathi made the remarks during the Indian Embassy’s celebration of the 11th Ayurveda Day, held on Wednesday at the embassy headquarters. The event brought together around 200 Ayurveda practitioners, wellness experts and representatives of organizations and institutions working in the field, along with members of the Indian community in Kuwait.
Tripathi described Ayurveda as one of the world’s oldest healthcare systems and an important component of India’s traditional knowledge and wellness heritage. She said its holistic approach seeks to promote balance between the body and mind through proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, daily routines and various wellness practices.
She noted that Ayurveda’s emphasis on preventive care and healthy living has contributed to growing international interest in the system and other traditional approaches to wellness.
Focus on stress, sleep and lifestyle diseases
The program opened with a video message from Shri Baidya Kotisha, Secretary of the Government of India’s Ministry of AYUSH, highlighting the importance of Ayurveda and its role within India’s traditional healthcare system.
The event featured a series of lectures and presentations examining the relevance of Ayurveda to contemporary health challenges and lifestyles, as well as ways its practices can support health promotion and preventive care.
The Ministry of AYUSH delivered two lectures via video link. Dr. C. Ashwin Chandra presented “Ayurveda for Stress Management and Sleep Improvement,” focusing on Ayurvedic approaches to managing stress, improving sleep quality and supporting overall well-being.
Dr. Amrish Prakash Dedge also delivered a specialized lecture as part of the program.
Rupesh Ravi gave a presentation on the benefits of Ayurveda and its contribution to overall health and wellness, while Dr. Gauri Bhagwat delivered a lecture titled “Ayurveda for the Prevention and Management of Lifestyle Diseases and Preventive Health.” The session examined the role of Ayurveda in preventive healthcare and approaches to addressing health problems associated with modern lifestyles.
Kalari-Yoga performance and exhibition
The celebration also featured a Kalari-Yoga presentation by the founders of KMS Kalari and Ayur Yoga. The presentation showcased elements of traditional Indian practices, particularly Kalaripayattu and yoga, emphasizing physical discipline, balance and overall well-being.
An exhibition dedicated to Ayurveda and healthy living was also organized with the participation of organizations involved in Ayurveda in Kuwait. The exhibition featured Ayurvedic products, wellness practices and health preparations, allowing visitors to learn more about different aspects of Ayurveda and its application in everyday life.
The embassy also shared information and awareness materials related to the celebration through its social media platforms to reach a wider audience and promote greater awareness of Ayurveda.
Strengthening India-Kuwait cultural ties
The Indian Embassy said the 11th Ayurveda Day celebration reflected growing awareness in Kuwait of Ayurveda and holistic wellness, while providing an opportunity to introduce India’s traditional knowledge systems to a broader section of society.
The embassy added that the event was part of its continuing efforts to strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Kuwait by showcasing India’s rich heritage in health, wellness and preventive care. Such initiatives, it said, contribute to expanding interaction and cultural exchange between the two countries.
