KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The State Audit Bureau (SAB) has criticized the slow pace of implementing the Ministry of Public Works’ plan to put asphalt on roads and repair damages caused by heavy rains last winter, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.
Sources disclosed that officials of the bureau and the ministry met recently during which SAB officials pointed out the slow pace of implementing the plan, especially since the ministry obtained approval on March 12 from its finance counterpart regarding the cost of changing orders for 28 contracts including 18 contracts of the ministry at a total cost of KD 24.7 million and eight contracts of the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) at a total cost of KD 6 million.
Sources pointed out that the bureau granted initial approval for the Ministry of Public Works to proceed with these contracts on March 20, adding that in reality the number of contracts is less than 10.
