KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has issued an official statement warning the public about fraudulent text messages that have been circulating recently. These messages, which falsely claim to request payment of electricity bills via unknown links, are not issued by the Ministry and have no official connection to it.
According to the Ministry, some of these messages misuse its name and logo in an attempt to deceive recipients. The Ministry strongly urged the public not to click on any suspicious links or provide personal information in response to such messages.
To help users identify fraudulent communications, the Ministry provided a comparison between a sample of the fake message and its official, approved message. Officials emphasized that all legitimate communications from the Ministry are sent exclusively through its recognized channels and are always clear, direct, and verifiable.
The Ministry further stressed the importance of verifying the authenticity of any message before taking action and encouraged users to promptly report any suspected attempts of online fraud. Public vigilance, the Ministry noted, is essential in protecting individuals from falling victim to such scams.
