Attack near Barakah Nuclear Plant in UAE shows 'Criminal Disregard' for civilian lives

ABU DHABI, May 17: Anwar Gargash, an Emirati politician who served as the minister of state for foreign affairs, has strongly condemned the drone attack near the Barakah nuclear plant site in the United Arab Emirates, describing it as a “dangerous escalation” and a “dark scene” that violates international laws and norms.

He said the attack reflects a “criminal disregard” for civilian lives in the UAE and surrounding areas, warning that such actions further deepen instability in the region.

Gargash added that the incident highlights the broader challenges the region faces in confronting what he described as “forces of evil, chaos, and sabotage,” stressing the need to counter threats to regional security.

He further stated that no party would be able to pressure the UAE, asserting that “no one will twist the UAE’s arm” or undermine its vision of security, stability, development, and prosperity for the region.
