Athletes granted exemption from Article 17 passport cancellation.

KUWAIT CITY, July 25: The crisis surrounding the cancellation of Article 17 passports for stateless individuals saw a significant breakthrough, particularly for athletes who have been exempted from the decision. This development has allowed sports teams to continue their activities without disruption.

Officials from Khaitan SC are working tirelessly to ensure that their players from the stateless category can join their training camp in Egypt. Meanwhile, players from Al-Tadamon SC have already arrived at their camp in Alexandria and commenced training.

This exemption also directly benefits the Kuwaiti national football team, which includes Hassan Hamdan, Mohammed Daham, Mashari Ghannam, and Mohsen Falah. These players are now able to participate fully with the team.

The decision to suspend Article 17 passports and related transactions was issued by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef. This suspension is intended to allow for further study and scrutiny, with exceptions made for cases involving treatment and education.

This resolution provides a much-needed relief for the athletic community, ensuring that players can continue to train and compete internationally without hindrance.
