KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: The series of assaults on securitymen and infringement of the prestige of the law continued for the third day in a row after a citizen almost ran over a lieutenant and escaped with his wireless device that fell inside his vehicle while the officer tried to catch him, reports Al-Rai daily.
This happened when the officer suspected a man in a vehicle on the Fourth Ring Road because he was driving recklessly and endangered the lives of road users.
The man was told to pull over and he complied with the orders and as an officer walked up to him, the man could hardly speak and began to stutter which the officer could not understand.
The officer then asked the driver for his driving licence and car registration book and the latter obliged. The suspect who turned out to be a 25-year-old Kuwaiti, in an attempt to escape, ran over the officer knocking him to the ground and stepped on the gas pedal and escaped.
The details of the suspect and the car have been relayed to all police patrol cars. In the meantime, a case has been filed with the Surrah Police Station and the injured officer was taken to a hospital
