Asian Woman Arrested at Muscat Airport with 4.7 kg of Marijuana

MUSCAT, Mar 12: Customs authorities at Muscat International Airport have foiled an attempt by an Asian woman to smuggle a large quantity of marijuana into the country.

According to officials, inspectors at the airport discovered 4.7 kilograms of marijuana carefully concealed inside the passenger’s personal luggage during routine customs checks. The attempt was detected after customs officers conducted a detailed inspection of the baggage.

The suspect was immediately detained and the seized drugs were confiscated. Authorities said the case has been referred to the relevant legal authorities to complete the necessary procedures.

Customs officials reaffirmed their commitment to tightening inspections at ports of entry to prevent the smuggling of narcotics and other prohibited substances into the Sultanate.
