Asian trio kidnaps compatriot for ransom – Kuwaiti caught selling smuggled antiques

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Police have arrested three Asians for kidnapping a compatriot and holding him for ransom, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, the arrest came after the wife of the kidnapped person filed a complaint with the police. According to the complainant, the suspects after kidnapping her husband contacted her and demanded KD 7,000 ransom and threatened to kill him if the money was not paid. The kidnappers have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Kuwaiti held: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested a 50-year-old Kuwaiti for selling ‘smuggled’ antiques, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily quoting security sources police acting on a tip-off sent an agent to buy a piece of antique from the suspect for KD 35,000 and caught him in the act. During interrogation the man admitted to smuggling the antiques into the country via the sea. He also claimed he bought the antiques from an African nation.

Robbing expats: The Farwaniya police have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti, believed to be an employee of the Ministry of Interior, for robbing expatriates, reports Al-Anba daily. The suspect was caught red-handed after several men complained that they had been robbed by the suspect. Without going into details the daily said the man has been handed over to the authorities.

‘Seals’ stolen: An employee of the General Traffic Department posted at the Amghara Scrapyard has filed a complaint with the Saad Al-Abdullah Police Station accusing an unidentified security officer of stealing seals marking the ‘entry’ and ‘exit’ of private vehicles, reports Al-Shahed daily. The suspect has been summoned for interrogation.
