KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6: The Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship wraps up today, Friday, at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, with the men’s and women’s skeet finals scheduled for 12:30 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.

Obeid Al-Oseimi, Secretary-General of both the Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federations and the tournament director, described the championship as a major success both organizationally and technically, featuring Asia’s top shooters. The event also welcomed high-profile officials, including ISSF President Luciano Rossi and Asian Shooting Federation President Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah.

Al-Oseimi highlighted the impressive performance of Kuwait’s national team in the trap events for men and women, securing five out of six medals — two golds, two silvers, and one bronze — and expressed optimism about adding to this tally in today’s final competitions.

He noted that the high level of Kuwait’s shooters is a promising indicator for their preparation for Olympic qualifying events ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Games, scheduled across 2026 and 2027, and reaffirmed the Kuwait Shooting Federation’s full support for all national athletes.

Al-Oseimi also credited the championship’s success to the strong support of Kuwait’s leadership for shooting sports, as well as the collaboration and backing of the ISSF and the Asian Shooting Federation with the local organizing committee.

Chinese shooter Jin Shungo praised the championship as one of the best events he has ever participated in, commending its top-notch organization, ideal competition conditions, and the presence of Asia’s elite athletes competing for gold.

Shungo also lauded Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah for his efforts in developing shooting sports across Asia, helping shooters become strong contenders at both continental and global levels, including the Olympics.
