KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Kuwait customs officers have foiled an attempt to smuggle around 500 pills suspected to be psychotropic substances and ecstasy through Kuwait International Airport.
The General Administration of Customs said customs officers at Terminal 5 became suspicious of a bag belonging to an Asian passenger during an inspection.
A search of the bag led to the discovery of two white containers containing pills suspected to be Xanax, a substance listed among psychotropic drugs, along with another substance suspected to be ecstasy. The total quantity seized was approximately 500 pills.
The seized substances were confiscated, and the passenger was referred, along with the confiscated items, to the competent authorities for further legal action.
The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its continued efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances and to take legal action against anyone attempting to threaten Kuwait’s security and the safety of society.
