Asian cabbie robbed of KD 13, mobile phone; Syrian held in muggings

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 6: An unknown individual attacked an Asian taxi driver in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area and robbed him of KD 13 and his mobile phone. According to security sources, the victim went to Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station in torn clothes and explained to securitymen that he had dropped a passenger to the area and had requested him to pay the fare but the passenger hit him and robbed him of his money and mobile phone before running away. A case was registered and securitymen launched investigations to find the suspect using the description provided by the victim. Meanwhile, a Syrian expatriate was arrested for waylaying individuals and robbing them of their mobile phones. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Graduation ceremony: A graduation ceremony was held in honor of the participants of a four-week basic training course on investigation of traffic accidents which was launched on Nov 4. According to a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the ceremony was held under the patronage of the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Fahd Al-Shuwai’e and in the presence of Director of Specialized Training Center of General Traffic Department and National Coordinator for the project of integrated national strategy for development of traffic and transportation sector Colonel Salem Al-Ajmi. Colonel Al-Ajmi said the training course is part of the efforts exerted by Ministry of Interior to increase the standard of professionalism among its employees. He urged the graduates to apply the acquired skills in their daily duties, which will in turn enhance the general performance of the traffic sector. The training course is a part of a program that will continue in the coming few months with the aim of developing the skills of the employees in terms of investigating traffic accidents.
