KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The Asian continent dominated the men's and women's singles competitions at this year's World Bowling Championship, hosted by Kuwait from October 4 to 15. They secured the top positions, with a single exception in the men's category, where European player Tobies Boarding from Germany shared third place.
In the men's singles category, Singaporean player Jarn Ong emerged as the champion at the Kuwait World Bowling Championship, defeating his compatriot Mohad Jaris in a thrilling final match held at the Kuwaiti Sports Club Bowling Hall. Qatari Ghanem Abu Jassum and German Tobias Jörding both secured third place.
In the women's singles competition, Malaysian Natasha Roslan claimed the title by defeating her experienced compatriot Sin Jin in a closely contested match. The third-place finish was shared by Koreans Hong Ni and Sun Ren.
Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, the President of the International and Asian Bowling Federations, praised the high technical level displayed in the individual competitions, especially in the later rounds, highlighting the presence of top-ranked male and female players, which showcased the international bowling's excellence.
Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, who also heads the tournament organizing committee, assured that their commitment to ensuring the continued success of the tournament in terms of organization, technical aspects, and media coverage remains steadfast. He congratulated the champions and top performers in both competitions.
Abdullah Al-Qattan, President of the Qatar Bowling Federation, echoed the sentiments of a strong competition at the championship. He emphasized that the championship serves as a valuable platform for Gulf and Arab players to enhance their technical skills. He also commended Sheikh Talal Al-Sabah's re-election as the head of the International Bowling Federation for a third consecutive term, acknowledging the significant progress made in the sport over the past two sessions.
