TIANJIN, China, Aug 22: Kuwaiti international referee Abbas Ashkanani has been selected by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to officiate matches at the 2026 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in Tianjin, China, from August 21 to 30.
Ashkanani’s appointment highlights the growing international recognition of Kuwaiti volleyball referees and their ability to officiate major continental competitions. He is expected to oversee several matches alongside a number of international referees during the tournament.
The appointment marks another important milestone in Ashkanani’s refereeing career and further reflects the strong reputation of Kuwaiti officiating on the international stage.
Meanwhile, the Salwa Al-Sabah Club women’s volleyball team has traveled to Abu Dhabi to compete in the Fatima Bint Mubarak Volleyball Tournament.
The team hopes to deliver a strong performance and represent Kuwaiti sport with distinction. Its participation is part of the club’s efforts to provide its players with valuable international experience, strengthen their technical level, and prepare them for upcoming competitions.
The squad features a group of players eager to make an impression and achieve positive results after completing preparations for the tournament.
