Article 22 Visa Violators in Kuwait Soon to Get Opportunity to Rectify Status

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 26: In a humanitarian move aimed at protecting families from separation and ensuring their stability, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, has instructed the issuance of a decision permitting violators of the “Dependent” visa (Article 22) to regularize their status. This opportunity applies to those who failed to rectify their residency situation during the previous grace period.

According to a reliable source, the decision was made after a thorough review by the Residency and Nationality Affairs Sector, led by Brigadier General Fawaz Al-Roumi, with direct supervision from the Director General of Residency Affairs, Brigadier General Mazid Al-Mutairi, and in coordination with the Ministry’s legal team. The matter was assessed from a humanitarian perspective, taking into account the difficult circumstances faced by affected families and children who risked losing their legal residency in Kuwait.

The source emphasized that this initiative reflects Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef’s determination to balance legal enforcement with humanitarian considerations, ensuring that families are not unfairly penalized while maintaining the integrity of the residency system.

It is expected that the forthcoming decision will include a specific grace period during which violators of Article 22 can adjust their residency status. Once this deadline passes, the file will be closed permanently, and no further opportunities to regularize status will be granted.

This step is anticipated to bring relief to many families in Kuwait, offering them a renewed chance at stability and legal security.
