Arrest Made in Jahra Under New Drug Law, 770 Lyrica Pills Seized

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: A patrol from the Jahra Security Directorate arrested a Bedoun (Stateless) after finding him in possession of a large quantity of narcotic pills intended for sale. The suspect was caught with 770 Lyrica pills during a routine security operation in the Al-Qasr area.

According to a security source, the arrest took place during the first week of the implementation of the new drug law, which imposes strict penalties on drug-related crimes, including life imprisonment and the death penalty for drug traffickers. While carrying out regular patrol duties, officers noticed a vehicle committing traffic violations and moved to stop it for inspection.

Upon checking the driver’s identity, officers confirmed that he was in his thirties and was a Bedoun. Although he appeared to be sober at the time, a precautionary search of the vehicle was conducted in accordance with standard security procedures. The search led to the discovery of 770 Lyrica pills concealed inside the vehicle, raising suspicion that the drugs were intended for distribution.

The entire quantity of pills was immediately confiscated and secured, and all necessary legal measures were taken at the scene. The suspect, along with the seized narcotics, was referred to the General Department for Drug Control for further investigation.

The source confirmed that the suspect will be thoroughly questioned, and if investigations establish that he was involved in drug trafficking, he will be referred to the judiciary to face the penalties stipulated under the new drug law. Security authorities reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law strictly and combating drug-related crimes to protect public safety.
