Archimandrite Oshin Vartanian

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: The priest and vicar of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Kuwait, Archimandrite Oshin Vartanian, who serves as the Vicar of the Prelacy of the State of Kuwait and the Neighboring Countries, extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the government and people of Kuwait on the country’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2027–2029 term. In a press statement, Archimandrite Vartanian explained that the international achievement represents not only a diplomatic success but also global recognition of Kuwait’s standing and its longstanding contributions to humanitarian and relief efforts. It reflects a foreign policy based on wisdom, moderation, and support for the oppressed.

The Armenian Apostolic Church, which has been part of Kuwait for many years, has daily witnessed the respect, appreciation, and freedom enjoyed by the Armenian community in practicing its religious traditions. This environment is fostered by authentic Kuwaiti values that promote coexistence, tolerance, and the dignity of every individual, regardless of religion or ethnicity. He described Kuwait’s election to the UN body as fully consistent with these principles. Archimandrite Vartanian stressed that the principles of justice, human dignity, and fraternity upheld by the Human Rights Council are the same values upon which the State of Kuwait was founded.

He expressed confidence that Kuwait, through its new membership, would continue to play an active role in advocating for vulnerable populations, promoting a culture of dialogue, and protecting human rights without discrimination or bias. Archimandrite Vartanian concluded by praying for God’s protection over Kuwait, its Amir, Crown Prince, and people, and for the continued blessings of security and safety. He expressed hope that Kuwait would remain an oasis of peace, a beacon of humanity, and a meeting point for religions and cultures
