BUENOS AIRES, Nov 3, (Xinhua): Argentine President Javier Milei on Sunday announced the appointment of political leader Diego Santilli as the new interior minister, replacing Lisandro Catalan, who resigned on Friday.

"We have a Minister of the Interior: welcome 'Colo' Santilli. Diego will be the one to carry out talks with governors and legislators in order to coordinate with the National Congress on each of the necessary consensuses for the reforms that lie ahead," the president said in an X post.

Milei initiated a cabinet reshuffle recently as the midterm legislative elections on Oct 26 gave his coalition a strengthened mandate. Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos resigned on Friday and will be succeeded by presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni. Justice Minister Mariano Cuneo Libarona and Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein also announced resignations in late October.
