Arbitration Law gets initial nod; main pillar for justice

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: Kuwait’s Cabinet approved a draft decree-law to issue the Arbitration Law, given that it is a key pillar for efficient justice, and due to its speed in resolving disputes and flexibility in procedures. This came during the Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday, chaired by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al- Sabah. Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shareeda Al-Mouasherji made the following statement: The Cabinet was informed of the names of the official delegation accompanying the representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on his official mission to New York for the High-Level Week of the 81st UN General Assembly session from September 19-26, 2026. The delegation includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organizations’ Affairs Ambassador Sadiq Marafi, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the US Sheikha Al-Zain Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, Permanent Delegate to the UN Ambassador Tariq Al-Bannai and several officials from the Crown Prince’s Diwan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Cabinet strongly condemned attempts to target Makkah with a drone launched by the Houthi militia, reiterating its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and the holy sites. Similarly, it condemned the Houthi militia attacks on civilians in the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif in Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in several civilians being injured and houses being damaged.
