Arabi SC clinch 8th Kuwait Crown Prince Cup trophy

KUWAIT CITY, March 15: Al-Arabi SC won their eighth His Highness Kuwait Crown Prince Cup trophy after beating Kuwait SC in a thrilling 5-4 penalty shootout. The final of the 29th edition of the championship was held at Sheikh Jaber Ahmad International Stadium on Tuesday evening under auspices and in presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. After the first half ended in a 0-0 draw, Ahmad Al-Zanki successfully shot on target from outside the box at the beginning of the second half, granting the opener for Kuwait SC.

Al-Arabi SC won His Highness the Crown Prince Cup on Tuesday after beating Kuwait SC 5-4 on penalties. It is the eight trophy for Al-Arabi in their history. Kuwait SC squad missed a chance to double their lead at minute 78 when Mehdi Berrahma failed to score from a penalty due to vigilance of Al-Arabi’s goalkeeper Jassem Al-Awadhi. Al-Arabi managed to equalize thanks to a neat header from Salman Al-Awadhi at minute 82, seven minutes after his teammate Walid Al-Shuala got the red card. Since it was first launched in 1993, the championship has seen Kuwait SC and Qadsia SC winning nine trophies each, Al-Arabi SC – eight, and Al-Salmia – two trophies.
