Arab States, UN Condemn Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon

DOHA, Apr 9: Several Arab countries and the United Nations have strongly condemned a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting wide areas across Lebanon, which reportedly caused hundreds of civilian casualties.

The Qatar News Agency reported that Qatar described the strikes as a “serious escalation” and a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and international humanitarian law.

Oman denounced the attacks as “war crimes” and a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, while Kuwait condemned the strikes for causing significant civilian casualties in violation of international law.

Egypt also issued a strong rebuke, calling the air raids a “flagrant violation” of international laws and norms.

The United Nations echoed the condemnation, urging an immediate halt to hostilities, a return to diplomacy, and renewed adherence to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

The coordinated statements reflect growing regional and international concern over escalating violence and its impact on civilians.
