KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: The Public Prosecution has directed the imprisonment of Arab nationals accused of affiliating with a banned group and conspiring to carry out terrorist acts within the country. Their entry into the country was allegedly to monitor Shiite places of worship, assessing security conditions, and restricting the number of worshipers. The accused individuals purportedly acquired knowledge of manufacturing explosives with the intent to use these devices in planned operations, specifically targeting places of worship to cause harm to visitors. While the plan was devised, it was not executed.

The Public Prosecution has conducted interrogations, charging the defendants with joining a terror group aimed at unlawfully destroying fundamental systems, engaging in activities detrimental to the nation's interests, illegal training in manufacturing explosives, and misuse of telephone communications. The accused have reportedly admitted to these charges, and ongoing investigative procedures are in place.

In a related case, the Public Prosecution has ordered the provisional detention of two Kuwaiti citizens on charges of affiliating with the same banned terror group. The first accused allegedly facilitated the travel of two Gulf nationals affiliated with the group and expressed an intention to participate in combat. Additionally, funds were transferred to support the group's members, and the second defendant was directed to communicate with the group's leaders through social media, with an alleged intention to carry out terrorist acts within the country. Charges against these defendants include activities harmful to national interests, conducting hostile acts against foreign countries, financing terrorism, defamation of the Amir, initiation of explosives with intent to cause harm, and misuse of communication devices. Investigations into these charges are currently underway.
