KUWAIT CITY, Jun 28: What began as an ordinary workday ended in shock for a 36-year-old Arab expatriate, who told police he returned home to find his family apartment virtually stripped bare, his wife and child gone, and his marriage seemingly over with a single WhatsApp message.

According to a complaint filed at a police station in Hawally Governorate, the man said he left for work at around 6:30 a.m. as usual. But when he returned shortly after 4:00 p.m., he was stunned to discover that much of the home's furniture, electronic appliances, personal belongings and even gold jewelry had disappeared.

His wife and their young son were nowhere to be found.

The expatriate told investigators he repeatedly tried to contact his wife throughout the evening without success. At around 8:00 p.m., he finally received a WhatsApp message that, according to his complaint, changed everything.

In the message, his wife allegedly informed him that she had left Kuwait with their son and intended to begin legal proceedings to end the marriage, either through divorce.

The husband claimed she had taken advantage of his absence to carry out what he believes was a carefully planned operation. According to his account, she allegedly sold a large portion of the household furniture and appliances within a matter of hours before heading to the airport and leaving the country with their child.

He told police he never consented to his son leaving Kuwait and accused his wife of taking valuable household items before departing.

The complainant insisted that while the couple had experienced marital disagreements, they were no different from ordinary disputes between spouses and, in his view, did not justify what he described as the sudden dismantling of their home and departure from the country.

Security sources said a case has been registered and the complaint is under investigation as authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
