KUWAIT CITY, Jan 27: Tension rippled through the usually calm Al-Shaab district as a food company filed a breach-of-trust complaint against one of its own — an Arab expatriate accused of misappropriating 1,720 Kuwaiti dinars.
According to the company’s legal representative, the accused had received the cash from the firm’s driver but allegedly chose to keep it for himself rather than deposit it as required. The incident, which unfolded at around 4:30 p.m. earlier this year, reportedly took place in front of the suspect’s residence in Hawally — turning an ordinary day into a scene of alleged betrayal.
Police sources said the case was swiftly referred to the Criminal Investigation Department, where the suspect later appeared voluntarily. During interrogation, he admitted receiving and retaining the funds but firmly denied any criminal intent, claiming he had “never meant to misappropriate the money.”
Despite his defense, the man was referred to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings, while investigators continue to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding the unexpected breach of trust.
