Arab, Asian expats caught smuggling liquor, paan; police hunt masked thief

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17: Security operatives overpowered a drunken Kuwaiti woman who was seen driving a rented car after hitting a car belonging to a male compatriot. The woman who reportedly insulted the victim after the incident has since been referred to the concerned authority for legal action.

Meanwhile, Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport apprehended an Asian man in possession of half a kilogram of paan (betel leaf) on his return to Kuwait from his home country. The suspect had kept the contraband carefully hidden in his luggage but the officers detected it, and referred him to the concerned authority for legal action.

In a smilar but unrelated incident, Customs officers arrested a Lebanese passenger in his attempt to smuggle 10 bottles of liquor into the country. He was referred to the Public Prosecution. And, detectives have been working around the clock to identify a person recorded by surveillance camera as he entered a building in Yarmouk area and carted away several household items.

The recorded clip showed the suspect wearing a mask and gloves to conceal his identity. He disconnected the camera at the point of entry. The landlord filed a complaint with officers at Yarmouk Police Station, and a case was registered for investigation.
