Anti-drug law lessons to be added to middle school curricula
New school lessons to warn students about drugs and penalties.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: Awareness materials covering the provisions of the new anti-drug and psychotropic substances law will be incorporated into middle school curricula starting from the next academic year, as part of efforts to strengthen prevention and raise students’ awareness of the dangers of drugs and their legal consequences, educational sources said.

The sources explained that the initiative aims to intensify precautionary measures to confront drug abuse by presenting the law’s content in an educational format suited to students’ age groups. The materials will focus on explaining the penalties for drug use, possession, and trafficking, while also highlighting the health, psychological, and social risks associated with drug abuse.

According to the sources, the objective is to build early legal awareness among students and equip them with the knowledge needed to make sound decisions that protect them from falling into delinquency or exploitation.

They added that the move reinforces the educational role of schools in safeguarding students, particularly amid growing attempts by drug dealers to target younger age groups, a trend fueled by rapid social and technological changes that have diversified methods of promotion and access.
