KUWAIT CITY, Oct 1, (Agencies): Under the direction of Maestro Hanif Farhat, the Egyptian singer Angham delivered a joyous performance for Ahmed Marjan’s “Laylat ‘Amr” (Night of a Lifetime) event. The performance took place on the stage of the Otay Theater at the Sheikh Jaber Cultural Center.

Angham, whose special status is revered by Kuwaiti audiences, delighted the crowd with a diverse repertoire of her old and new songs. She even graciously fulfilled audience requests, prompting continuous cheers and applause throughout the three-hour performance. Angham’s powerful vocals and stage presence left a lasting impression on the audience, and she only left the stage once she had thoroughly entertained them.

Angham, known for her versatility, chose to sing in the Gulf dialect, adding to the charm of her performance. She sang Gulf-flavored hits like “Tee Fee Al Hawa” and “RawiHayatiHobbMakfi,” captivating the audience. Angham showcased a wide selection of her songs, making this performance distinct from her previous one in Kuwait. Her renditions of songs like “HobbakWaHashatni” resonated deeply with the audience, and the atmosphere became even more electric during songs like “AsamiKalthariha” and “Abtayy ‘Ala W Qalt Al ShawqRaji.”

During the event, Abdulaziz Al-Zaidi, the chairman of Laylat ‘Amr, explained that they chose Angham for her artistry, unique voice, and her impact on the music scene. He emphasized that Laylat ‘Amr has become a distinguished festival that attracts stars from the Gulf and Arab world, and Angham’s inclusion adds to its prestige.

Towards the end of the performance, Angham pleasantly surprised the audience by inviting her son, Abdulrahman Fahd Al-Shalabi, to join her on stage, receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the audience. She playfully commented, “He should have come to visit his homeland. Have you seen this Kuwaiti moon? Congratulations to all of you, and to him as well. He’s growing up in a good place.”

The artist expressed her hope that her son, being of Kuwaiti heritage, will learn the Kuwaiti dialect and connect with his roots. She also humorously advised him to speak with the Kuwaiti officials and requested they handle his citizenship matters quickly, jokingly adding that she hoped it would happen within 18 months.

This performance by Angham at the Sheikh Jaber Cultural Center left a mark in the hearts of Kuwaiti music enthusiasts, and her choice to sing in the Gulf dialect added a special touch to the evening.
