Amnesty period for residence violators ends

KUWAIT CITY, April 30, (Agencies): The Ministry of Interior has stated that it has not decided to extend the amnesty period for residence law violators which ended April 30, 2020.

The daily added, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh has seen the report on amnesty centers that has been prepared by the security officials.

The precise date for departure of the residence law violators to their respective homelands has yet to be specified since maintaining law and order among those who have registered to leave the country without paying fines constitute a huge burden on the country not only from the security aspect but taking care of all those who are housed at the government shelters in light of the health crisis that the whole world is going through.

The source added that the total of the violators who benefited from the deadline that ends on April 30 and up till now about 25,000 expatriates out of a total of approximately 1,60,000 violators, which means that 1,35,000 residents refused to take advantage of amnesty and are still hiding in residential areas.

The sources pointed out that the report also recommended not using all the shelters taking into account many other things because the shelters may be needed during emergency situations. The source noted the countries which have refused to open airspace for their citizens the time limit may be extended for those wishing to leave.
